
South Sioux City, Nebraska, Woman Pleads Guilty To Methamphetamine Charges

A woman who conspired to distribute methamphetamine pled guilty August 23, 2012, in federal court in Sioux City.
Delfina Janet Torres-Perez, 25, from South Sioux City, Nebraska, was convicted of one count of conspiring to distribute methamphetamine and one count of distribution of methamphetamine.
At the plea hearing, Torres-Perez admitted that she was involved in a conspiracy from about March 2012 through April 2012 that distributed more than 35 grams of actual (pure) methamphetamine in the Fort Dodge and Sioux City, Iowa, areas. On April 2, 2012, defendant distributed more than 27 grams of actual (pure) methamphetamine to an individual cooperating with law enforcement within 1000 feet of Early City Park, Early, Iowa.
Sentencing before United States District Court Judge Donald E. O’Brien will be set after a presentence report is prepared. Torres-Perez was taken into custody by the United States Marshal after the guilty plea and will remain in custody pending sentencing. On the conspiracy conviction, Torres-Perez faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 5 years’ imprisonment and a possible maximum sentence of 40 years’ imprisonment, a $5,000,000 fine, a special assessment of $100, and at least four years of supervised release following any imprisonment. On the distribution conviction, Torres-Perez faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 5 years’ imprisonment and a possible maximum sentence of 80 years’ imprisonment, a $10,000,000 fine, a special assessment of $100, and at least eight years of supervised release following any imprisonment.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Shawn S. Wehde and was investigated by the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, Denison, Iowa, Police Department, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Early, Iowa, Police Department, Sac County Sheriff’s Office, and Drug Enforcement Administration.
