SIOUX CITY MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO METH CHARGE

nited States Attorney Matt M. Dummermuth announced today that a man who intended to manufacture methamphetamine pled guilty on March 17, 2009, in federal court in Sioux City.

KRIS ANDERSEN, 30, from Sioux City, was convicted of one count of conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine. At his plea hearing, ANDERSEN admitted that between October 2007 and May 2008 he purchased pills for the manufacture of methamphetamine and gave them to a co-defendant in exchange for methamphetamine.

Sentencing before United States District Court Chief Judge Linda R. Reade will be set after a presentence report is prepared. ANDERSEN remains in custody of the United States Marshal pending sentencing. ANDERSEN faces a possible maximum sentence of 30 years’ imprisonment, a $2,000,000 fine, a $100 special assessment, and six years of supervised release following any imprisonment.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jack Lammers and was investigated by the Tri-State Drug Task Force based in Sioux City, Iowa, which consists of law enforcement personnel from the Drug Enforcement Administration; Sioux City, Iowa, Police Department; Immigration and Customs Enforcement; Woodbury County Sheriff’s Office; South Sioux City, Nebraska, Police Department; Nebraska State Patrol; Iowa National Guard; Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement; United States Marshals Service; South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation; and the Woodbury County Attorney’s Office.
