Davenport Man Sentenced On Federal Firearm Charge
DAVENPORT, Iowa - On December 10, 2007, Donald Anthony Tomsha, age 43, formerly of Davenport, Iowa was sentenced by United States District Court Judge John A. Jarvey to 110 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to a charge of felon in possession of a firearm, announced United States Attorney Matthew G. Whitaker. Tomsha was also ordered to serve three years supervised release upon release from prison. Tomsha was convicted after being found on December 13, 2006 in possession of two rifles and a shotgun in Davenport. These three firearms were determined to have been stolen in an earlier burglary out of Cedar County.
This case was prosecuted in the United States Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of Iowa as part of the Project Safe Neighborhoods initiative. This investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, the Davenport Police Department, and the Cedar County Sheriff’s Department.
