Des Moines Man Sentenced On Firearms Charge
DES MOINES - On December 19, 2007 Demetrius Bailey, age 29, of Des Moines, Iowa, was sentenced to a term of 24 months imprisonment for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, announced United States Attorney Matthew G. Whitaker. United States Chief District Judge Robert W. Pratt also ordered Bailey to serve a thirty-six month term of supervised release, and to pay an assessment of $100 to the Crime Victim Fund.
On July 24, 2007, Bailey entered a plea of guilty to the firearm and ammunition charge and stipulated that on November 14, 2006, he possessed a .22 caliber pistol and .22 caliber ammunition and had previously been convicted of a felony offense.
This case was prosecuted by the United States Attorneys Office for the Southern District of Iowa. This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
