DES MOINES - On February 8, 2008, Graeme Pierson, age 45, of Oskaloosa, Iowa, was sentenced to a term of 300 months imprisonment for attempted production of child pornography and attempting to induce a child to engage in criminal sexual activities, announced United States Attorney Matthew G. Whitaker. Senior United States District Judge Ronald E. Longstaff also ordered Pierson to serve a five year term of supervised release upon his release from prison and to pay an assessment of $200.00 to the Crime Victim Fund.

On August 16, 2007, a jury found Pierson guilty of charges involving the attempted production of child pornography and attempting to induce a child to engage in criminal sexual activities. Pierson also sent money to this person to purchase a webcam for the production of child pornography. The person Pierson was chatting with on the internet was an undercover Black Hawk County Sheriff’s deputy.

Pierson was previously convicted in Marion County, Iowa in 1987 of indecent contact with a child. This case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa. This case was investigated by the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office and the Department of Homeland Security, Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
