Norwalk Man Sentenced On Gun Charge
DES MOINES, IOWA - On February 15, 2008, Michael Dean Wenger, age 42, of Norwalk, IA, was sentenced to a term of five months home confinement and three years probation for being a drug user in possession of a firearm, announced United States Attorney Matthew G. Whitaker. Senior United States District Judge Ronald E. Longstaff also imposed a Crime Victim Fund assessment of $100.
On September 17, 2007, Wenger entered a plea of guilty to the weapons charge. At the time of his plea, Wenger stipulated that on December 1, 2006 he was an unlawful user ofmarijuana and possessed a firearm.
This case was prosecuted by the United States Attorneys Office for the Southern District of Iowa. This case was investigated by the Mid-Iowa Narcotics Enforcement Task Force and the Department of Homeland Security, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
