Dismissal of Charges against Steven Francis Sueppel Requested
Davenport, IA - Matthew G. Whitaker, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Iowa, announced today that the federal charges against Steve Francis Sueppel are being dismissed.
The United States Attorney's Office has received written verification from the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) confirming the death of Steven Francis Sueppel. Sueppel's embezzlement trial was scheduled to begin on April 21th.
This case was being prosecuted by the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
It should be noted that this dismissal action is clearly based on the official written confirmation of Steven Francis Sueppel's death. The actual cause of his death and the circumstances leading up to it are still under investigation by the Iowa DCI and responding agencies.
