Davenport Man Sentenced to 10 Years Imprisonment for Possessing Stolen Shotguns

Davenport, IA- On April 28, 2008, Chad Joseph Moeller, age 36, of Davenport, was sentenced to 120 months imprisonment, having previously been convicted of one count of possessing stolen firearms, announced United States Attorney Matthew G. Whitaker. United States District Judge John A. Jarvey also ordered Moeller to serve three years on supervised release following imprisonment and to pay an assessment of $100 to the Crime Victim Fund.

On October 2, 2006, Moeller burglarized a Davenport residence, stealing three shotguns and other items. Davenport detectives subsequently learned that Moeller was attempting to sell shotguns. A comparison of Moller’s known fingerprints to prints found at the burglary scene yielded a match. Police arrested Moeller, recovering the shotguns and some of the other stolen items.

This case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney for the Southern District of Iowa and investigated by the Davenport Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
