Calumet City Man Sentenced on Federal Gun and Drug Charges

Davenport, IA- On March 3, 2008, Jim Anthony Walker, 26, of Calumet City, IL, was sentenced to 60 months imprisonment for one count of conspiracy to distribute at least 5 grams of a mixture and substance containing cocaine base, a.k.a. “crack” cocaine, announced United States Attorney Matthew G. Whitaker. Walker was also sentenced to 60 months imprisonment for one count of possession of firearms in furtherance of drug trafficking, with that sentence to be consecutive to the drug count, for a total imprisonment of 120 months. United States District Judge John A. Jarvey also ordered that Walker will serve a term of 4 years supervised release following his incarceration, and pay an assessment of $100 to the Crime Victim Fund.

As part of his plea agreement, Walker acknowledged that he traded crack cocaine for firearms, those being two Smith and Wesson, Model 6906, 9mm caliber pistols, and a Glock, Model 22, .40 caliber pistol.

This investigation was conducted by the Burlington, Iowa, Police Department, the Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office, the Iowa State Patrol, the Iowa Department of Public Safety, Division of Narcotics Enforcement, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
