Waukee Women Sentenced on Counterfeiting Charge

DES MOINES, Ia - On April 16, 2009, Debra Parizek, age 38, of Waukee, Iowa, was sentenced to a term of 18 months imprisonment for counterfeiting federal reserve notes, announced United States Attorney Matthew G. Whitaker. Chief United States District Court Judge Robert W. Pratt also ordered Parizek to serve a three year term of supervised release upon her release from prison and pay an assessment of $100 to the Crime Victim Fund.

On August 18, 2008, Parizek pled guilty to the counterfeiting charge. The case arose out of an investigation conducted by the Urbandale Police Department. On December 19, 2007, members of the Urbandale and Waukee Police Departments executed a search warrant at the residence shared by Parizek and her co-defendant, Brandon McHenry. Officers seized a large quantity of counterfeit U.S. currency as well as a computer, printer and paper. The United States Secret Service was called in to assist in the investigation.

Brandon McHenry, Parizek’s co-defendant, had been sentenced on February 23, 2009, to 33 months imprisonment. McHenry had pled guilty on October 10, 2008.

This case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa. This case was investigated by the Urbandale and Waukee Police Departments and the United States Secret Service .
