Davenport Man Sentenced on Federal Gun Charges

Davenport, IA- On June 26, 2009, Michael Leon Holt, 39, of Davenport, IA, was sentenced to 50 months’ imprisonment for one count of Felon in Possession of a Firearm, announced United States Attorney Matthew G. Whitaker. United States District Judge John A. Jarvey also ordered that Holt will serve a term of 3 years supervised release following his incarceration. Holt was ordered to pay $100 to the Crime Victim Fund.

The charge stemmed from an incident on September 7, 2008, when Davenport officers responded to a dispatch call regarding an individual walking near a gas station/convenience store and carrying a long gun wrapped in a bag. The individual, later identified as Holt, had approached employees of the gas station as they were closing for the night. The weapon involved was a Winchester, Model 190, .22 caliber rifle.

This investigation was conducted by the Davenport, Iowa, Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
