GLENWOOD MAN SENTENCED ON METHAMPHETAMINE CHARGES

DES MOINES- On August 17, 2009, Jason Aaron Bendt, age 29, of Glenwood, was sentenced to 262 months imprisonment for manufacture of methamphetamine, announced United States Attorney Matthew G. Whitaker. In addition, the Honorable United States District Court Judge James E. Gritzner sentenced Mr. Bendt to eight years of supervised release, and ordered him to pay a $100 special assessment to the Crime Victim Fund.

A one count indictment was filed against Mr. Bendt on July 16, 2008, charging him with manufacture of at least 50 grams of a substance containing methamphetamine. On November 21, 2008, Mr. Bendt pled guilty to this charge admitting to the Court that on April 8, 2008, he possessed components of an active methamphetamine laboratory, discovered by Council Bluffs Police, during a traffic stop.

This case was prosecuted in the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa. This investigation was conducted jointly by the Iowa Department of Public Safety’s Division of Narcotics Enforcement, Council Bluffs Police Department, Southwest Iowa Narcotics Enforcement Task Force and the Pottawattamie County Attorney’s Office.
