CLARINDA MAN SENTENCED ON METHAMPHETAMINE CHARGES

DES MOINES - On August 18, 2009, Danny Ray Liles, age 41, of Clarinda, was sentenced to 240 months imprisonment for attempted manufacture of methamphetamine, announced United States Attorney Matthew G. Whitaker. In addition, the Honorable United States District Court Judge James E. Gritzner sentenced Mr. Liles to eight years of supervised release, and ordered him to pay a $100 special assessment to the Crime Victim Fund.

A one count indictment was filed against Mr. Liles on September 18, 2008, charging him with attempted manufacture of at least 50 grams of a substance containing methamphetamine. On March 11, 2009, Mr. Liles was convicted by a jury of attempt to manufacture methamphetamine at Wabonsie Park in Shenandoah, Iowa.

This case was prosecuted in the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa. This investigation was conducted jointly by the State of Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, Shenandoah Police Department, Clarinda Police Department, Fremont County Sheriff’s Office, Page County Sheriff’s Office and the Page County Attorney’s Office.
