Former Iowa Resident Sentenced on Federal Charges for Failure to Register as Sex Offender
Davenport, IA- On November 5, 2009, Kenneth Edwin Katzenburger, 33, of Port Byron, IL, was sentenced to 12 months and one day imprisonment for one count of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender, announced United States Attorney Matthew G. Whitaker. United States District Judge John A. Jarvey ordered that Katzenburger will serve a term of 5 years supervised release following his incarceration and pay an assessment of $100 to Crime Victims Fund.
Katzenburger registered as a sex offender with the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office on December 18, 2006, showing a new address in Colona, IL. Subsequent to that time numerous witnesses and documents placed him living at various addresses in Iowa. Katzenburger failed to update his registration with the new addresses until confronted by a Clinton County Sheriff’s Deputy in October of 2008.
This investigation was conducted by the United States Marshals Service, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office and the Colona, IL, Police Department.
