NEWTON MEN SENTENCED ON CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CHARGES

DES MOINES - On November 5, 2009, Carl Conrad Carman III, age 28, and William Allan Carman, age 27, of Newton, Iowa, were each sentenced to a term of 30 months’ imprisonment for possessing child pornography, announced United States Attorney Matthew G. Whitaker. United States District Court Judge James E. Gritzner also ordered each to serve a ten year term of supervised release upon their release from prison and pay a crime victim fund assessment of $100.00.

On July 31, 2009, both Carl Conrad Carman III and William Allan Carman pled guilty to the possession of child pornography charge. A search warrant was executed at the residence shared by the Carman’s on November 15, 2007, and their computer and related electronic media was seized. A forensic exam of these items revealed in excess of 150 images of child pornography.

This case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa. This case was investigated by the Newton, Iowa Police Department and the Iowa Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
