Former Gowen Field Employee Admits to Theft

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 20, 2011

BOISE – Gabriel Heath Nelson, 35, of Middleton, Idaho, pleaded guilty today in United States District Court to theft of government property, U.S. Attorney Wendy J. Olson announced.

According to the plea agreement, Nelson admitted that while employed at Gowen Field between 2007 and 2010, he stole various property from the U.S. Government. After stealing the property, Nelson admitted he took it to a local sporting goods store and obtained credit from the store.

The charge carries a maximum punishment of up to ten years in prison, a fine up to $250,000, and up to three years supervised release.

Sentencing is scheduled for October 11, 2011, before U.S. District Judge Edward J. Lodge at the federal courthouse in Boise.

The case was investigated by the U.S. Air Force Office of Special Investigations and Boise Police Department.
