BOISE – Christopher Paul Davis, 32, of Boise, Idaho, was sentenced today to 63 months in prison for unlawful possession of three firearms, U.S. Attorney Wendy J. Olson announced. Chief U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill also ordered Davis to serve three years of supervised release following the prison term and pay a $250 fine. Davis pleaded guilty to the charge in July 2011.

According to the plea agreement, on November 2, 2010, Davis sold three firearms to an individual working as a confidential informant with law enforcement. Davis is prohibited from possessing firearms due to a previous felony conviction for delivery of a controlled substance in June 2006.

The case was investigated by the Treasure Valley Metro Violent Crimes Task Force and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The case was brought as part of Idaho’s Project Safe Neighborhoods Program, which seeks to reduce gun violence in Idaho. Davis was prosecuted by the Special Assistant U.S. Attorney hired by the Treasure Valley Partnership and the State of Idaho to address gang crimes.
