CALDWELL GANG MEMBER GETS 30 MONTHS FOR ILLEGAL GUNEast Side Loco gang member and convicted felon Leeroy Salazar has been sentenced to 30 months in prison for illegally possessing a firearm. Salazar is currently serving a sentence at the Idaho State Correctional Institute for forgery and possession of drugs. As a convicted felon, he is not allowed to possess firearms. Salazar, 28, of Caldwell, was sentenced Tuesday by Chief U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill at the federal courthouse in Boise. He was also ordered to pay a $1500 fine and serve three years of supervised release following his incarceration, during which time he is to have no gang paraphernalia and no contact with gang members. He is also not allowed to enter Canyon County except to visit his family, and must notify his Probation Officer of his plans. His federal sentence will be partially consecutive to his state sentence. He will be transferred to a federal prison upon completion of his state sentence. Salazar admitted being involved with the East Side Locos, a criminal street gang, since he was nine years old. The case was investigated by the Caldwell Police Department and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). |
