FOUR IDAHO FALLS RESIDENTS SENTENCED TO FEDERAL PRISON FOR PARTICIPATION IN METHAMPHETAMINE TRAFFICKING CASEFour Idaho Falls area residents have been sentenced to federal prison for distributing methamphetamine. Lindsie Barger, 23, was sentenced October 15, 2008, in federal court in Pocatello to five years in prison followed by five years of supervised release. Barger pled guilty in July to one count of drug distribution. Barger has been a resident of Jefferson County and Bonneville County. Cynthia Elder, 23, was sentenced October 14, 2008, in federal court in Pocatello to three and a half years in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release. Elder pled guilty in July to one count of drug distribution. Misti Chapman, 25, was sentenced October 14, 2008, in federal court in Pocatello to two and a half years in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release. Chapman pled guilty in July to one count of drug distribution. The fourth defendant, David Chapman, 48, the father of Misti Chapman, was sentenced to seven months incarceration and seven months of home detention followed by three years supervised release. The ring was broken up after confidential informants made purchases of methamphetamine from Elder and Misti and David Chapman. A search warrant was executed at Barger’s home in Rigby, Idaho, where over 300 grams of methamphetamine, over $5000 in cash, and a variety of surveillance equipment including scanners and night vision monoculars were seized. There are no federal prisons in the state of Idaho. All defendants will be incarcerated outside the state. Multiple agencies assisted in the investigation including the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office, Idaho Falls Police Department, Idaho State Police and Rigby Police Department. |
