BUHL MAN SENTENCED FOR GUN CRIME

Jeremy Wade Miller, 33, of Buhl, Idaho, was sentenced last Thursday by U. S. District Judge Brian Stewart in Boise, Idaho, to 57 months in federal prison for unlawful possession of a firearm, the U.S Attorney’s Office announced. U.S. District Judge Brian Stewart, a visiting judge from the District of Utah, also ordered Miller to serve three years of supervised release after he completes his prison term. As there is no parole in federal court, Miller will serve the entire 57 month sentence outside the state of Idaho in a federal prison. Miller had entered a guilty plea in March 2009.

Miller was a two time convicted felon who was on parole for an Oregon conviction of attempted rape in the first degree. He burglarized his neighbor's home and stole two firearms along with other property. The Twin Falls County Sheriff's Department investigated the home burglary and determined Miller had traded one of the firearms for methamphetamine.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Department.
