O’FALLON MAN SENTENCED FOR UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF AMMUNITION BY A FELON AND FOR BANK ROBBERY
Stephen R. Wigginton, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, announced today that on December 3, 2010, HARROLD A. SMITHEE, age 44, of O’Fallon, Illinois, was sentenced in United States District Court in East St. Louis, Illinois, to 92 months’ imprisonment, a term of 3 years’ supervised release and a special assessment of $200.
SMITHEE pled guilty on August 26, 2010, to unlawful possession of ammunition by a felon and bank robbery. According to the Stipulation of Facts filed with the Court at the time of the defendant’s guilty pleas, SMITHEE robbed a bank in Caseyville, Illinois, on March 15, 2010. He was arrested in Oklahoma the next day with some of the bank robbery proceeds in his car.
The investigation of these cases was conducted bythe Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The cases were prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Deirdre A. Durborow and Michael J. Quinley.
