| TEXAS MAN SENTENCED FOR COCAINE DISTRIBUTION CONSPIRACY |
Stephen R. Wigginton, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, announced today that on December 15, 2010, RAMIRO SALDANA, age 23, of Donna, Texas, was sentenced to 140 months in federal prison for his participation in a cocaine distribution conspiracy. In addition, SALDANA was sentenced to a term of 5 years of supervised release and a special assessment of $100.
SALDANA pled guilty to Conspiracy to Distribute and Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine on September 3, 2010 in United States District Court in East St. Louis. According to information presented at SALDANA’S change of plea hearing, SALDANA transported cocaine through the Madison County, Illinois, area from approximately March, 2010, until May, 2010.
The investigation which resulted in SALDANA’S conviction was conducted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Illinois State Police. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Andrew Simonson.
