|ALTON MAN SENTENCED FOR FIREARM OFFENSE|
Stephen R. Wigginton, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, announced today that on December 20, 2010, DEANDRE L. SLACK, age 25, of Alton, Illinois, was sentenced in United States District Court in East St. Louis, Illinois, to 57 months’ imprisonment, a $100 fine, a term of 3 years’ supervised release, and a $100 special assessment. SLACK also agreed to forfeiture of the firearm and ammunition identified in the indictment.
SLACK previously pled guilty on September 27, 2010 to an indictment charging possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
According to court documents, the violation occurred on or about December 30, 2009, when the
U.S. Marshals Service Task Force was attempting to serve an Illinois Department of Corrections’ parole warrant and officers found the Defendant attempting to hide a gun in the ceiling.
The investigation of this case was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives in cooperation with the Madison CountyState’s Attorney’s Office, the United States Marshals Service, and the Illinois State Police.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Deirdre A. Durborow.
