
MONTANA WOMAN CHARGED WITH LOCAL MAIL THEFT
Stephen R. Wigginton, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, announced
today that on January 21, 2011, a federal grand jury returned an Indictment against NICOLE MARIE
LANCE, age 30, of Billings, Montana, for six counts of Mail Theft. The Indictment alleges that on six
occasions LANCE stole mail from mail receptacles located in O’Fallon, Fairview Heights, Belleville,
and Lebanon, Illinois. On each of the six counts, LANCE faces a penalty of up to 5 years’
imprisonment, a fine of up to $250,000.00, or both, and a term of supervised release of up to three years.
All defendants are presumed innocent of any charges until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt to
the satisfaction of a jury.
The Indictment follows an investigation by the United States Postal Inspection Service. The
prosecution of the case is being handled by Assistant United States Attorney Kevin F. Burke.
