
EAST ST. LOUIS MAN SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS ON DRUG CHARGE
Stephen R. Wigginton, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, announced today that on October 21, 2011, Ed E. Cosby, Jr.,32, of East St. Louis, Illinois, was sentenced in federal district court in East St. Louis to 10 years’ imprisonment, 8 years’ supervised release, a $100 special assessment, and a fine of $200, following his plea of guilty to an Indictment charging him with Possession with Intent to Deliver Crack Cocaine. The charges relate to an undercover purchase of approximately 5.1 grams of crack cocaine from Cosby on February 27, 2009, in O’Fallon, Illinois. A Factual Stipulation filed with the Court states that the purchase was made by a confidential informant at a restaurant in O’Fallon, and that law enforcement agents arrested Cosby as he exited the restaurant. The case was investigated agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Angela Scott.
