
Marion Man Headed to Prison for Firearm Offense
A Marion, Ill. man was sentenced on April 4, 2012, in United States District Court in Benton, on a one-count indictment charging Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, Stephen R. Wigginton, announced today.
Petre D. Washington, 35, was sentenced to 112 months’ imprisonment, 3 years’ supervised release, and was fined $200. The firearm offense occurred in Carbondale on October 24, 2010. Washington was prohibited from possessing the firearm based on a previous felony conviction for Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and Carbondale Police Department.
The case was assigned to Assistant United States Attorney Amanda A. Robertson for prosecution.
