On December 13, 2012, a Williamson County resident was sentenced in U.S. District Court on a one-count indictment charging conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, Stephen R. Wigginton, announced today.

Heather D. Ashmore, 36, of Herrin, was sentenced to 46 months’ imprisonment, 3 years’ supervised release, and was fined $300. Evidence at the plea and sentencing hearings established that Ashmore was involved with others in the manufacture of methamphetamine. Ashmore supplied pseudoephedrine pills to others to use to manufacture methamphetamine. The conspiracy offense occurred between 2008 and January 30, 2012, in Williamson, Jackson, Saline and Franklin Counties. Four co-defendants have previously been sentenced for their involvement in the methamphetamine conspiracy. One co-defendant has pled guilty and is awaiting sentencing.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration and Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the Murphysboro Police Department, Marion Police Department, Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, Saline County Sheriff’s Office, Illinois State Police, Carrier Mills Police Department, Harrisburg Police Department, and United States Marshals Service.
