HARRISBURG MAN INDICTED FOR THEFT OF GOVERNMENT PROPERTY

A. Courtney Cox, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, announced today that on June 17, 2009, KYLE CHAMBERS, 28, of Harrisburg, Illinois, was indicted by a Federal Grand Jury sitting in East St. Louis, Illinois. CHAMBERS was charged with one count of Theft of Government Property. Theft of Government Property carries a sentence of not more than ten years in prison, a $250,000 fine, or both, and not more than three years of supervised release.

An indictment is a formal charge against a defendant. A defendant is presumed to be innocent of all charges until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

Information for the indictment was obtained in an investigation conducted by the United States Forest Service, Department of Agriculture. The case is assigned to Assistant United States Attorney Jennifer Hudson for prosecution.
