CAHOKIA MAN PLEADS GUILTY IN DRUG CASE

A. Courtney Cox, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, announced today that BRIAN WILLIAMS, age 32, of Cahokia, Illinois pled guilty on Friday, October 2, 2009, in United States District Court in East St. Louis, Illinois to an indictment charging him with possession with the intent to distribute in excess of five (5) grams of crack cocaine.

WILLIAMS is currently scheduled to be sentenced in United States District Court in East St. Louis, Illinois, at 11 a.m. on January 6, 2010. At that time, WILLIAMS faces a statutory minimum of 5 years imprisonment and a potential maximum sentence of forty years imprisonment, a fine of up to $2,000,000, and a period of at least four years of mandatory supervised release following his release from prison.

The investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Daniel T. Kapsak.
