MARION MAN SENTENCED ON METHAMPHETAMINE CHARGES
A. Courtney Cox, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, announced today that on September 10, 2009, JASON W. ROMAN, age 30, of Marion, Illinois, was sentenced in United States District Court in Benton, Illinois. ROMAN, who had previously pled guilty to a one-count indictment charging him with conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine, was sentenced to 144 months’ imprisonment, 5 years’ supervised release and was fined $600.
The violation took place between December 2007, and March 5, 2009, in Jackson, Williamson, and Randolph Counties, Illinois.
The investigation was conducted by the Desoto Police Department, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, and Murphysboro Police Department. The investigation was conducted as part of the Project Safe Neighborhoods DRAGUN Team Initiative, a cooperative effort of local, state, and federal law enforcement, and state and federal prosecuting authorities, aimed at ridding communities of illegal drugs and guns.
The case was assigned to Assistant United States Attorney Amanda A. Robertson for prosecution.
