OREGON MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO TRAVELING ACROSS STATE LINES TO HAVE SEXUAL CONTACT WITH MINOR
A. Courtney Cox, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, announced today that on September 25, 2009, PAUL R. BRADLEY, age 53, of Clackamas, OR, pleaded guilty to a one count Information in United States District Court in Benton, Illinois.
The Information charged that on May 25-26, 2009, BRADLEY traveled from the State of Oregon to Wabash County, Illinois, for the purpose of engaging in illicit sexual conduct with a person under eighteen years of age.
With respect to the charge, BRADLEY faces up to 30 years imprisonment, up to a $250,000 fine, and from 5 years to lifetime supervised release. BRADLEY has been remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal Service pending his sentencing on January 7, 2010.
The investigation in this case was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation Southern Illinois Cyber Crimes Task Force, the Illinois Attorney General’s Office Crimes Against Children Task Force, and a number of state and local law enforcement agencies, including the Wabash County Sheriff’s Office, the Mt. Carmel, IL Police Department, and the Wabash County State’s Attorney’s Office.
This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, in which the United States Attorney’s Office, in conjunction with federal and state law enforcement authorities, is actively investigating and prosecuting individuals who produce, distribute, or possess child pornography. Anyone with information concerning the use of the Internet for the purposes of possessing, producing, or trafficking in child pornography is encouraged to contact the Federal Bureau of Investigation or their local police department.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney George A. Norwood.
