PRESS RELEASE

 

                      DEFENDANT CHARGED

          PARISH L. BUTLER was charged by federal criminal complaint with felony interstate failure to pay child support, in violation of 18 U.S.C. Section 228(a)(3). BUTLER, age 34, of Houston, Texas, currently owes approximately $38,000 in back child support to his children who reside with their custodial parent in Gary, Indiana. On April 1, 2005, BUTLER was arrested where he currently resides in Texas and will be returned to the Northern District of Indiana to face federal felony charges in Hammond, Indiana. This case is assigned to Assistant United States Attorney Dean R. Lanter.

          The United States Attorney's Office emphasized that a complaint is merely an allegation at this time and that all persons charged are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court.
