PRESS RELEASE

                     DEFENDANT SENTENCED

    Casey Kemper was sentenced yesterday by United States District Court Judge James T. Moody to 48 months imprisonment for using a phone to facilitate a drug transaction, one year supervised release, $100 special assessment.

    Kemper, age 27, of Gary, Indiana, was arrested and detained on July 2, 2002. She pled guilty on November 12, 2002 to a violation of Title 21, United States Code, Section 843. Kemper admitted to being part of a crack ring in the Black Oak neighborhood of Gary led by John Razo in May & June 2002. Razo pled guilty to distribution of crack cocaine in January and awaits sentencing.

    The case was investigated by the Gary Response Investigative Team (GRIT), and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David E. Hollar.
