| INDICTMENT UNSEALED |
Hammond, IN—The United States Attorney's Office announced that a Grand Jury sitting in Hammond, Indiana, returned the following Indictment on August 8, 2007:
LEON FREEMAN, age 22, of Chicago, Illinois was charged in a 1 count indictment with passing with intent to defraud counterfeit obligations of the United States. Freeman, an employee of BP Amoco in Hammond, Indiana, falsely made and counterfeited numerous fifty ($50.00) dollar Federal Reserve Notes which he passed as true and genuine while working at the gas station. This case is being investigated by the U.S. Secret Service and the Hammond, Indiana Police Department. This case has been assigned to and will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Randall M. Stewart.
The specific sentence in each case to be imposed upon conviction will be determined by the judge after a consideration of federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
The United States Attorney's Office emphasized that these indictments are merely allegations and that all persons charged are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court.
