FEDERAL GRAND JURY RETURNS INDICTMENT

Hammond, IN—The United States Attorney's Office announced that a Grand Jury sitting in Hammond, Indiana, returned the following Indictment on August 16, 2007:

RANDY G. GREEN, age 26, of Hammond, Indiana, was charged in a two count indictment with making false statements on a BATF Form 4473 Firearms Transaction Record in connection with the acquisition of two Smith and Wesson .40 caliber pistols from Blythe’s Sport Shop, Inc., and two Masterpiece Arms 9 millimeter pistols from Westforth Sport Shop, Inc. Green represented himself as the actual purchaser when in fact he knew that he was purchasing the firearms for another person. This case is being investigated by the ATF/HIDTA Task Force. This case has been assigned to and will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Nicholas J. Padilla.

The specific sentence in each case to be imposed upon conviction will be determined by the judge after a consideration of federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.

The United States Attorney's Office emphasized that this indictment is merely allegations and that all persons charged are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court.
