UNITED STATES ATTORNEY CHARGES

Fort Wayne, IN—The United States Attorney's Office announced that it filed an Information on May 16, 2007.

KEVIN M. O’BRIAN, age 50, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, was charged in a single count Information with manufacturing, selling, or possessing a badge, identification card, or other insignia, of the design prescribed by the head of any department or agency of the United States, to wit: The United States Bankruptcy Court, “Discharge of Debtor” (Official Form 18), for use by any officer or employee thereof, except as authorized under regulations made pursuant to law, which on January 31, 2005, he used to attempt to stop the collection of a debt he owed. This charge was filed as the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. This case has been assigned to and will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Deborah M. Leonard, who can be reached at 260-422-2595 for any inquiries.

The specific sentence in each case to be imposed upon conviction will be determined by the judge after a consideration of federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
