ACTIVITY IN FEDERAL COURT - HAMMOND

Hammond, Indiana—The United States Attorney's Office announced:

Allan Henry Walker, Sr., 22, of Gary, Indiana, were sentenced on 4/16/10 by Chief Judge Philip Simon to 18 months imprisonment and 3 years of supervised release after pleading guilty to making false statements to purchase firearms. This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Firearms, Tobacco, and Explosives/HIDTA Task Force, and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Joshua Kolar.

Russell Drozd, 30, of Hammond, Indiana, plead guilty on 4/16/10 before Chief Judge Philip Simon to possession of a firearm with an altered or obliterated serial number. Sentencing has been set for July 21, 2010. This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation GRIT Task Force, and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jennifer Chang-Adiga.

The specific sentence in each case to be imposed upon conviction will be determined by the judge after a consideration of federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
