South Bend, IN—The United States Attorney's Office announced:Joseph Hunt, of South Bend, Indiana, was sentenced on 4/6/10 by Judge Robert Miller, Jr. to 33 months imprisonment and 1 year of supervised release after pleading guilty to an information charging him with use of a communication device to promote a drug felony (distribution of marijuana). His brother, Daniel Hunt, 35, of South Bend, was sentenced on 3/29/10 after pleading guilty to the same charge, to 24 months imprisonment and one year of supervised release. The Hunts were involved in the trafficking of 100-400 kilograms of marijuana after arranging deliveries of the drugs via telephone. This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney William Grimmer
Larry Wilson, 26, of Elkhart, Indiana, plead guilty before Magistrate Judge Christopher Nuechterlein on 4/7/10 to failure to register as a sex offender. Sentencing has been set for June 22, 2010. This case was investigated by the United States Marshals Service, and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney John Maciejczyk.
The specific sentence in each case to be imposed upon conviction will be determined by the judge after a consideration of federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
