FEDERAL GRAND JURY IN FORT WAYNE RETURNS INDICTMENT

Kent Cooper, 34, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, is charged in a single count Indictment with distribution of a controlled substance on or about July 27, 2009. This charge was filed as a result of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Fort Wayne Police Department Gang Squad. This case has been assigned to and will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Tina L. Nommay.

The specific sentence in each case to be imposed upon conviction will be determined by the judge after a consideration of federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.

The United States Attorney's Office emphasized that an Indictment is merely an allegation and that all persons charged are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court.
