South Bend, IN—The United States Attorney's Office announced the following activity in Federal Court:
Henry Bonds, 30, of South Bend, Indiana, plead guilty before Magistrate Judge Christopher Nuechterlein to counts one and two of an indictment charging him with being a felon in possession of a firearm. Bonds was previously convicted of sexual battery, possession of marijuana, hash and hash oil, and possession of cocaine. These charges were filed as the result of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Firearms, Tobacco, and Explosives and the St. Joseph County Police. This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Donald Schmid.
Donald Newland, 27, of Rolling Prairie, Indiana, plead guilty before Magistrate Judge Christopher Nuechterlein to count one of an indictment charging him with being a felon in possession of a firearm. Newland was previously convicted of forgery. These charges were filed as the result of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Firearms, Tobacco, and Explosives. This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jesse Barrett.
Daniel Nells, 45, of Rochester, Indiana, plead guilty before Magistrate Judge Christopher Nuechterlein to count two of an indictment charging him with possession with the intent to manufacture marijuana. These charges were filed as the result of an investigation by Drug Enforcement Administration. This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Frank Schaffer.
The specific sentence in each case to be imposed upon conviction will be determined by the judge after a consideration of federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
