ACTIVITY IN FEDERAL COURT - SOUTH BEND
South Bend, Indiana—The United States Attorney's Office announced:
Jeffrey Coleman, Jr., 20, of South Bend, Indiana plead guilty on 1/26/10 before Magistrate Judge Christopher Nuechterlein, to possession of a firearm (Glock Model 22, .40 caliber pistol) while an unlawful user of marijuana. Sentencing has been set for May 6, 2010. This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Firearms, Tobacco, and Explosives, was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Donald Schmid.
Lawrence Taylor, 54, of Merrillville, Indiana, was sentenced on 2/1/10 by Chief Judge Robert Miller, Jr., to 168 months imprisonment and 3 years of supervised release after pleading guilty to the bank robbery and assault with a deadly weapon of Key Bank in South Bend, Indiana in August, 2008. Taylor was also sentenced to 12 months imprisonment to run consecutively after pleading guilty to violations of supervised release in an earlier conviction for a bank robbery in Minnesota in April, 2002. This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the South Bend Police Department, and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Frank Schaffer.
The specific sentence in each case to be imposed upon conviction will be determined by the judge after a consideration of federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
