ACTIVITY IN FEDERAL COURT - SOUTH BEND

South Bend, Indiana—The United States Attorney's Office announced:

Roberto Colon-Arenas, 35, and Isaac Gerardo, 26, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, were sentenced on 1/8/10 by Chief Judge Robert Miller, Jr., to 48 months imprisonment and 5 years of supervised release after pleading guilty to possession with the intent to distribute heroin. In June, 2009, in Marshall County, Indiana, Colon-Arenas and Gerardo were traveling on Highway 30, when they were stopped by a law enforcement officer. In a search of the Monte Carlo they were driving, officers found over one kilogram of a substance they believed was heroin. This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Frank Schaffer.
