FEDERAL GRAND JURY IN FORT WAYNE RETURNS INDICTMENTS


Fort Wayne, IN—The United States Attorney's Office announced that a Grand Jury sitting in Fort Wayne, Indiana, returned the following Indictments on January 27, 2010:

 

JOSE MANUEL CHIPRES, age 35, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, is charged in a single count Indictment with misuse of a social security number on or about on or about October 12, 2009. These charge were filed as the result of an investigation by the Identity Theft Task Force comprised of the United States Postal Inspection Service, and the Indiana State Police, and assisted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. This case has been assigned to and will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Lovita Morris King, who can be reached at 260-422-2595 for any inquiries.

 

JERMAINE COOPER, age 37, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, is charged in an eight count Second Superseding Indictment with distribution of controlled substances on or April 15, 2009, April 20, 2009, April 27, 2009, and May 5, 2009; possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance on or about May 11, 2009; possession of firearms in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime on or about May 11, 2009; being a felon in possession of a firearm on or about May 12, 2009; and obstruction of justice on or about June 22, 2009, and continuing to on or about October 15, 2009. The Second Superseding Indictment also seeks the forfeiture of firearms, magazine and U.S. currency. These charges were filed as the result of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Fort Wayne Police Department and Vice and Narcotics. This case has been assigned to and will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Tina L. Nommay.

 

VIRGINIA PACE, age 38, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, is charged in a two count Superseding Indictment with theft of government money, and making false statements in application for benefits both occurring on or about April 2009 and continuing to on or about September 2009. These charges were filed as the result of an investigation by the Social Security Administration. This case has been assigned to and will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Lovita Morris King.

 

TIMOTHY LEE RICHARDS, age 40, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, is charged in a four count Indictment with possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance; maintaining a drug residence; possession of a firearm in furtherance of, and carrying a firearm during and in relation to, a drug trafficking crime, and felon in possession of a firearm all occurring on or about December 8, 2009. The Indictment also seeks the forfeiture of firearms, ammunition, and a magazine. These charges were filed as the result of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Fort Wayne Police Department. This case has been assigned to and will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Anthony W. Geller.

 

The specific sentence in each case to be imposed upon conviction will be determined by the judge after a consideration of federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.

 

The United States Attorney's Office emphasized that an Indictment is merely an allegation and that all persons charged are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court.
