ACTIVITY IN FEDERAL COURT - HAMMOND
Hammond, Indiana—The United States Attorney's Office announced the following activity in federal court:
Lajaun T. Lee, of the 1500 block of Gary, Indiana, was sentenced by Senior Judge Rudy Lozano to 37 months imprisonment, 2 years of supervised release, and $7488 in restitution after pleading guilty to count 4s of an indictment charging him with bank robbery by force or violence of the Centier Bank in Highland, Indiana in the case US v Washington et al. This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation/GRIT Task Force, and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Thomas Ratcliffe.
Edward Ray Kind, 53 (3/16/57), of the 1800 block of Pierce Street, Lafayette, Indiana, plead guilty before Chief Judge Philip Simon to count one of an indictment charging conspiracy to distribute 5 grams of more of cocaine base (crack cocaine). This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation GRIT Task Force, the Lafayette Police Department, and the Indiana State Police. This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Randall Stewart..
Kennon Tucker, 28 (12/30/81), of the 4200 block of 20th Place, Gary, Indiana, plead guilty before Judge Joseph Van Bokkelen to count one of an indictment charging him with being a felon in possession of a firearm. Tucker was previously convicted of criminal recklessness in 2008. This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Gary Police Department, and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Joshua Kolar.
The specific sentence in each case to be imposed upon conviction will be determined by the judge after a consideration of federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
