FEDERAL GRAND JURY IN SOUTH BEND RETURNS INDICTMENT
South Bend, IN—The United States Attorney's Office announced that a Grand Jury sitting in South Bend, Indiana, returned the following Indictments on July 14, 2010:
Alex Kiner, 50, of Michigan City, Indiana, was charged in a two count indictment with one count of felon in possession of a firearm and one count of felon in possession of ammunition. These charges were filed as the result of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, Project Disarm Taskforce. This case has been assigned to and will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Frank E. Schaffer.
Kiawanna Stewart, 26, of South Bend, Indiana, and Terrell Doaks, 22, of South Bend, Indiana, were charged in a three count indictment. Stewart was charged with one count of false statements to licensed firearms dealer and on ATF Form 4473, and one count of being an unlawful user of a controlled substance in possession of a firearm. Doaks was charged with one count of false statements to licensed firearms dealer on ATF Form 4473, and one count of being an unlawful user of a controlled substance in possession of a firearm . These charges were filed as the result of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, Project Disarm Task Force. This case has been assigned to and will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Frank E. Schaffer.
Matthew R. Fiandt, 24, of Elkhart, Indiana, was charged in a two count indictment with one count of being an unlawful user of a controlled substance in possession of a firearm and one count of making a false written statement on ATF Form 4473. These charges were filed as a result of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, Project Disarm Task Force. This case has been assigned to and will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney John M. Maciejczyk
The specific sentence in each case to be imposed upon conviction will be determined by the judge after a consideration of federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
The United States Attorney's Office emphasized that an Indictment is merely an allegation and that all persons charged are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court.
