ACTIVITY IN FEDERAL COURT - FORT WAYNE


Fort Wayne, IN—The United States Attorney's Office announced the following activity in federal court:

 

Derrick Bullock, 37, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, was sentenced on 5/12/10 by Judge Theresa Springmann to 84 months imprisonment and 4 years of supervised release after pleading guilty to possessing with the intent to distribute 5 grams or more but less than 50 grams of a mixture or substance containing a detectable amount of cocaine base, commonly known as “crack” . This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Lesley Miller Lowery.

 

Ruby Lamb, 58, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, was sentenced on 5/17/10 by Judge William C. Lee to 96 months imprisonment and 4 years of supervised release after pleading guilty to counts 4 and 5 of an indictment charging possession with intent to distribute cocaine base, commonly known as “crack”, and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. Lamb was previously convicted of conspiracy to distribute cocaine and use of a communication facility to facilitate the conspiracy in 1998. This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Firearms, Tobacco, and Explosives, Fort Wayne Police Department Vice and Narcotics Division and the Drug Enforcement Administration Drug Task Force and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Tina Nommay.

 

Robert Cole, 33, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, was sentenced on 5/17/10 by Judge William C. Lee to 240 months imprisonment (180 months on drug count and 60 months on gun count, to run consecutive to drug count), to be followed by 8 years supervised release, forfeiture of a 9 mm Glock pistol, ammunition and $6,145 and a $200 special assessment. In February 2010, pursuant to a Plea Agreement, Cole pleaded guilty to Counts 3 and 4 of the Indictment charging him with possessing with intent to distribute more than 5 grams of cocaine base “crack” and carrying a firearm during and in relation to a drug trafficking crime. At the plea hearing, Cole admitted to selling cocaine base “crack” on two earlier occasions in November 2009. Six days later, armed with a federal arrest warrant, police made a felony traffic stop and arrested Cole. Inside Cole’s vehicle, police recovered over 40 grams of cocaine base “crack,” a loaded 9mm Glock pistol and $6,145 in cash inside the armrest of the vehicle. This case was investigated by the the Bureau of Alcohol, Firearms, Tobacco, and Explosives and the Fort Wayne Police Department, and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Lovita Morris King.

 

 

            Demond Logan, 33, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, plead guilty on 5/13/10 before Magistrate Judge Roger Cosbey, to count 1 of an indictment charging him with being a felon in possession of a firearm. This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Firearms, Tobacco, and Explosives and the Fort Wayne Police Department, and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Anthony Geller.


 

The specific sentence in each case to be imposed upon conviction will be determined by the judge after a consideration of federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
