LAWRENCE MAN SENTENCED TO 12+ YEARS IN COCAINE TRAFFICKING CONSPIRACY

KANSAS CITY, KAN. – Leland Roebuck, 47, Lawrence, Kan., has been sentenced to 150 months for trafficking in cocaine.

In January 2009, Roebuck pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute or possess with intent to distribute more than 5 kilograms of cocaine. In his plea, he admitted he was part of a cocaine trafficking conspiracy in Lawrence led by co-defendants Gerald Dunn and Shaune Frazier.

Beginning at least in 2000 and continuing through 2006, Dunn and Frazier obtained multi-ounce quantities of cocaine which was subsequently manufactured into crack and distributed primarily in the Lawrence area. During 2004, Dunn and Frazier used an apartment in the 400 block of Wisconsin in Lawrence as a distribution point, relying on Roebuck and co-defendant Aaron Jackson to distribute crack at that location. In May 2004, when police served a search warrant at the apartment, they found Jackson inside. They seized crack cocaine, cash, and personal items belonging to Roebuck. Investigators also determined the conspirators were distributing crack from an apartment in the 2400 block of Alabama in Lawrence. Roebuck was one of the conspirators who had a key to the apartment.

During 2005, investigators learned that Roebuck had left the area after being accused of stealing money or drugs from Dunn and Frazier. Co-defendant Gary Brown took his place in the organization.

Co-defendants include:
Shaune Frazier, 36, Kansas City, Mo., is set for sentencing May 18.
Gary Brown, 26, Leavenworth, Kan., is set for sentencing May 18.
Troy Jarrett, 36, Lawrence, Kan., is set for sentencing May 18.
Corey Price, 29, is set for sentencing May 11.

Mike Wilkins, 31, is set for sentencing May 18.
Christina Wilkins, 31, is set for sentencing May 18.
Stephen Barbee, 44, Lawrence, Kan., is set for sentencing May 18.
