ALABAMA MAN CHARGED WITH ARMED ROBBERY

Robert Cameron Foust is a suspect in six other robberies.
Two hitchhikers are charged with failing to tell authorities about the crimes

WICHITA, KAN. – Robert Cameron Foust, 25, Alabaster, Ala., has been charged with armed robbery and federal weapons violations, U.S. Attorney Lanny Welch said today. Two other men, Jacob Edward Jones, 22, and Stanley Glenn Milstead, 28, Coweta, Okla., are charged with failing to report Foust’s crimes to authorities.

Foust is charged with one count of armed robbery, one count of brandishing a firearm during a robbery, and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm after a felony conviction. Jones and Milstead are charged with one count of misprision of a felony.

According to a criminal complaint filed today in U.S. District Court in Wichita, on Aug. 26, 2009, Foust robbed Little Ceasar’s Pizza, 1015 N. Main, in Newton, Kan. An investigator’s affidavit states that at about 8:45 p.m. Foust walked into the restaurant and asked for an employment application. Then he pulled a firearm, demanded money, and fled with the cash. A short time later, Foust, Jones and Milstead were arrested in Salina, Kan. Foust was carrying money from the robbery and a pistol stolen from a pawn shop in Columbiana, Ala.

Prior to the robbery at the restaurant, Foust had robbed and burglarized multiple businesses and dwellings in Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Kansas. He had picked up Jones and Milstead in Alabama or Tennessee where he found them hitchhiking. In Conway, Ark., Foust dropped off Jones and Milstead, carried out an armed robbery, picked them up again and drove west to Oklahoma. In Roland, Okla., he robbed a Movie Gallery and then continued west and north to Kansas. Jones and Milstead had several opportunities during their travels with Foust to notify authorities of the robberies but chose to remain silent. At a gentleman’s club, for instance, Foust purchased beer for Jones while Jones waited at a nearby motel.

According to the investigators’ affidavit, Foust is a suspect in the following armed robberies:
– Aug. 21, 2009: Movie Gallery in Calera, Ala
– Aug. 23, 2009: Movie Gallery, Warrior, Ala.
– Aug. 25, 2000: A convenience store near Nashville, Tenn.
– Aug. 25, 2009: Valero Market, Jackson, Tenn.
– Aug. 25, 2009: Movie Gallery, Conway, Ark.
– Aug. 26, 2009: Movie Gallery, Roland, Ark.

Upon conviction, the crimes carry the following penalties:
– Armed robbery: A maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison and a fine up to $250,000.
– Brandishing a firearm during a robbery: A maximum penalty of life and a fine up to $250,000.

– Misprision of a felony: A maximum penalty of 3 years and a fine up to $250,000.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the U.S. Marshals Service, the Newton Police Department and the Salina Police Department investigated. Assistant U.S. Attorney Matt Treaster is prosecuting. .

In all cases, defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. The indictments filed merely contain allegations of criminal conduct.
