WICHITA MAN SENTENCED ON CHILD PORN CHARGE

WICHITA , KAN. – Photographer Henry Nelson, 52, Wichita, has been sentenced to 87 months in federal prison for possession of child pornography, U.S. Attorney Lanny Welch said today.

In May 2009, Nelson pleaded guilty to one count of possession of child pornography. In his plea, he admitted that Wichita Police found more than 600 images of child pornography on a computer in his home. The federal sentence will run consecutive to his state prison sentence. In 2008, Nelson was convicted in Sedgwick County District Court on a charge of aggravated indecent liberties with a child.

Welch commended the Wichita Police Department’s Exploited and Missing Children’s Unit for its work on the federal case. Welch prosecuted the case.

This case was prosecuted as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative of the U.S. Department of Justice to protect children from online exploitation and abuse. For more information, see www.projectsafechldhood.gov .
