FEDERAL CHARGES FILED IN PRAIRIE VILLAGE BANK ROBBERY
KANSAS CITY, KAN. – Robert Holcomb, 55, is charged with robbing the Gold Bank in Prairie Village, Kan., on June 20, 2005.
If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison and a fine up to $250,000.
The Prairie Village Police Department, the Kansas City, Mo., Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation worked on the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Leon Patton is prosecuting.
OTHER INDICTMENTS
A federal grand jury meeting Thursday in Kansas City, Kan., also returned the following indictments:
Melvin Adolph Neva, 70, Tuscon, Ariz., is charged with one count of attempting to rob the U.S. Post Office in Lenexa, Kan., on Dec. 26, 2007.
Neva originally was charged with the robbery in a criminal complaint filed Dec. 27.
If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison and a fine up to $250,000. The U.S. Postal Service investigated. Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Dave Zabel is prosecuting
Mekel Anthony McAlpine, 32, who is being held in the Geary County Jail, is charged with one count of possession with intent to distribute approximately 10.06 grams of crack cocaine. The crime is alleged to have occurred Aug. 23, 2007, in Geary County, Kan.
If convicted, he faces a penalty of not less than 5 years and not more than 40 years in federal prison and a fine up to $2 million. The Junction City Police Department investigated. Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Jason Coody is prosecuting.
As in any criminal case, a person is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. The indictments filed merely contain allegations of criminal conduct.
